Hello all,
Seeing if anyone has ever hooked anything similar to the following in a PC (EG: 5150) or AT (5170) era computer:
eBay link (not mine): MOXA C104H ISA 4-port RS232 multi-serial port card

Do these work on early PC's, and does each port require a separate IRQs? Also, I haven't been able to find anything regarding drivers.
I kind of have a thing for early peripherals and something like this would be nice to not have to switch things around every use.

Regards

Edit: originally posted with wrong link.

For that particular card, the manual and drivers are here.

There is DOS and Windows 3.1 support, but the configuration is EEPROM-based and you will need to run the setup program. I don't see any mention of CPU requirements, but sometimes these programs will use 286 instructions which will be a problem for a 5150 unless you have a V20.

Hello @Plasma,
Thanks for the response and info. Not sure how I missed this as I was even on their site.
Still debating due to the cost. But having access to the drivers and documentation are definitely are points in its favor.

Thanks again

Under pure DOS you're probably going to run into shared IRQ issues no matter what hardware you use (at least if you want it to work with standard DOS software).

Just a thought... if you really want lots of serial ports on your PC and looking in that price point, might also consider a Digiboard PC/4 or PC/8 which were used back in those days and are of very high quality - might work better in a system from the same era.

Hello @640KB and thanks for the response. I did see these but the issue is that I could only find one currently listed that included the breakout cable - and this was twice the cost.
