I have seen a couple images out there with a Rainbow showing the usual RX50 in the right bay and then in the left bay a 1/2 height 5 1/4 drive stacked with a half height Winchester HD. There is one on ebay now. I can find nothing explaining this configuration in any documentation I have seen. What single 5 1/4 floppy drive could plug into the 2nd RX50 controller port and actually work? I know about some models of the Teac FD-55GFR that can be jumpered as an RX33, but would an RX33 or equivalent work on the Rainbow RX50 controller?

I am having the devils time finding a functional RX50 drive for my 100B that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. If there is an alternative that can work with the Rainbow controller and actually read RX50 disks that would be wonderful. Any information or thoughts on this are appreciated. Thanks.

Interesting. I had viewed that but had not noticed that difference. Never seen one set up that way. I would not think it was possible.

look here, it say "This teac drive (TEAC MODEL FD-55FR 510-U ) can also be used to replace the DEC RX50 units, is faster, and quieter."
