Hi,

I'm fixing drives again. This one's a REMEX 5.25 inch floppy drive. The repair is done, but I'd like a manual for future reference. Does anyone know where one might be?

I had a google around and had a good look at the usual suspects (bitsavers etc.) but to no avail?

Hi Chuck,

Yes, I saw that 8" drive Remex doc on bitsavers when searching.

Thanks for the link. Looks at if it might be useful but for $US20 plus shipping my need is not yet that great. The drive now works well. However, it's always handy to have docs just in case, so if there is a PDF out there somewhere, I'd snag it.

Let me know if you find something; I've got some of those fine Remex drives in my Hyperions (Hyperia?) and IIRC they weren't the most reliable at the best of times...

I think the 5.25" drive was the last model made by the Remex division of Ex-Cell-O. Bryant was also a division of said company, making some early hard drives. After Remex, I think they went back to making paper milk cartons and machine tools and eventually were purchased by investment group Maxcor and then sold to MAG.

Another fish story.
