Has anyone found a current source for the quick-fasten screws that hold the top and bottom covers in place on RK05 drives? The screws have retainer washers on them but they still tend to come loose and get lost. Having a full complement of fasteners in place on the drive is important since the covers (top especially) contribute significantly to the rigidity of the drive when installed.

DEC part number is 90-90183-00 for the screw and 90-90180-00 for the retaining washer. The manufacturer is Southco, who is still in business and still makes similar fast-lead screws with matching threads and root dimensions, but not in the flush-top style that DEC used. Because of tight rack and slide clearances, none of the current versions look like they will work, though they make a low-profile slotted version that _might_ work. Their catalog is online at www.southco.com; the fasteners are their 12 series.

I've scavenged screws from scrapped and damaged drives but it would be nice to have a handful of replacement fasteners on hand.

Thanks.

I have a friend who works at Southco, so if you can find the manufacturer's part number or a drawing, I could ask if the have any available.
