Hello all,

I'm working on a Tandy 1000SL board that's missing an ODD bits ROM - SU4 / HU2
My board is fit with the SU pinout ROM sockets.

My SU3 / HU1 ROM does seem to appear OK, I have a dump of that if it's needed.

Thanks much!

Matt

If your still looking for 1000SL bios let me know I'll dig mine out. And see what I can do.

Dumb Question. how did you read your other ROM chip?
I got my system out but looking at the chip im not able to determine what type it is to set my ROM reader (TL866+)

The service manual says there are 2 layouts used - check your board to see which one it uses.

I don't remember the ROM type I used on the reader - I'll have to check my notes when I get back to the shop.

Mine uses the SU layout for the Sharp ROM

See:
http://www.oldskool.org/guides/tvdog/documents.html
http://ftp.oldskool.org/pub/tvdog/tandy1000/documents/sltech.zip
PDF Page 71 & 79 in sltech.pdf

This is the SU type - for HU the sockets would be in the holes 0.1in to the right

https://github.com/86Box/roms - has SL/2 ROM dumps, which should work in the SL.
Those seem to have a different layout than my SU3 ROM dump.

Mine has the date string at 3FFF0 and EA jmp at 3FFF8

The HU1 has them at 1FFF0 and 1FFF8

Maybe the banking is different on the SL/2 or 86Box needs it that way.

Easy enough to fix to try on my SL, just noting it here for someone in the future

For SU pinout ROM:
On my T56 with Xgpro v12.50 I chose AM27C020
I had to uncheck Pin Detect and Check ID, but it appears to have read it without error.

For HU pinout you may need an adapter

If I read the fuzzy schematic from sltech correctly here are the pinouts:

Both SU3 and SU4 Read as AM27C020 via TL866+

Hope this helps

Woo Hoo!
Those ROMs from 86Box worked!
Had to flip the first half with the last half on each file.
Wrote them to some SST39SF020A parallel flash chip, put them in SU3 and SU4, and good to go.
Of course, it's just a bare board, no drives, keyboard or anything, so can't test further

Scottmm78 posted a dump for BIOS ROM version 01.04.00 type 32 with English DeskMate 03.00.00.
My Tandy 1000 SL has Sharp ROMs with BIOS ROM version 01.04.01 type 40. I could upload those if somebody needs them.

This type isn't mentioned in the 'Tech Notes & Jumper Guide For The 1000's Vol. 1'. Many others probably exist for different languages. From the guide:
Version Comments
01.04.00 First ROM release. Sharp ROM Chips version 1, type 32
01.04.00 Second ROM release. Sharp ROM 2, type 33 or is a
01.04.01 Sharp ROM 4, type 41
01.04.02 Sharp ROM 6, type 47
02.00.01 Hitachi ROM 2, type 33. Announced version that contains Deskmate 3.5 may not be available. Noted here for informational purposes.

It has DeskMate 03.01.00 in ROM with English, French and Dutch language support. The DeskMate parts on my 5.25" floppies are Dutch only. The ROM disk also has some additional files for internationalization support:
