Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone happened to have a Remex 9000 "The Director" tape drive? I have one that I can only guess I somehow touched the DB7 data pin to the nasty 26.4v DC line. I don't recall doing it, but the drive was working, I had the expansion card out (building my own) and next thing you know I could fry an egg on the CPU. At first I just thought the CPU failed, but I replaced it and same behavior. So I decided to dump the ROM just to see what was going on a little deeper, and realized DB7 was not reading, and that's when I looked at the schematic and saw DB7 sitting directly next to the high voltage. Sadly, this line goes all over the device, but I'm dead in the water without the ROM.

I mailed the DEC group, as I suspect if anyone out there has one of these drives, it would probably be you guys. I'm guessing probably any ROM is fine, but mine is labeled 135405-02F Remex 1990 - U6. The service manual only showed one PCB. Also, the chip is a 2732, so you don't need to pull the label off of it.

Thanks so much!
-Kevin
