RT-11 question: using multiple RAxx drives.

It's odd, but I've just never had to do it. I've used a single RAxx chopped up into multiple partitions and I've used that in conjunction with RL,RX,... drives, but I've never tried hooking up a second RAxx.
Physically it's simple, but trying to get a directory or write a filesystem has me stumped. I did flip through the RT-11 quick guide, but I didn't get any help there.

Shouldn't the second drive show up as DU1:?
initialize/badblock du1:
zero du1:
DU1: is the second partition on the RA73, as DU2-7 are also additional partitions. I suppose it could be that DU8: gets me into the second drive, but I'm not at all sure about that, hence the query. I guess I can set my write-protect switch and give it a go. 8-O

The device configuration of MSCP type drives can be customized in RT11. The configuration is kept in boot drive and the mapping of controllers, drives and controlled by the DU handler. Start with AA-PDU0A-TC_RT-11_Commands_Manual_Aug91.pdf and SET DU command. You can map up to 8 devices in RT11 DU0: to DU7. Each device can be individual mapped from any of 3 ports, unit numbers up to 250 and partition a single disk into 255 parts.

Each partition can be up to 64k blocks in size or about 32 Mbytes. You can use large drives, if you like it chunky.
