Hi,

I have an Schneider Euro PC II computer.
This pc is mounted like an amiga computer in a keyboard, only have 1 isa 8 bit slot, that used with isa 8 bit vga.
The reason of my post, is the hard disk and the floppy drive both external.
The Scheneider have an internal 3 1/2 floppy disk drive, and you can connect and Schneider hd 20 external hd, and a 5 1/4 external floppy drive.
The connector of the hard disk is an hdd-22 44 pin female.
The connector of the external 5 1/4 floppy drive is a normal d25 pin male.

I need schematics, or ideas of compatible external hard disks and floppy drives to connect to the schneider.

Perhaps anyone have the original schneider hd20 hard drive and the original external floppy drive and can solve my problem about how to connect other hd and floppy to it.

Please, I hope can anyone know info about this lovely machine and can make it possible.

Best Regards,

Genocho.

Hi Genocho,

This is an XT class machine.

I think the 5,25 external floppy should just work with a standard drive.

The harddisk is a problem. This computer has the BIOS harddisk type in ROM, you cannot change it. So it only works with the same type of harddisk that Schneider offered.

Unfortunately I do not know which type it was....

Most of the Schneider PC's were also sold as Amstrad, maybe that helps someone to find more info?

Thanks for the info.

You´re right the hard disk is the problem, only runs the manufacturer one.......but perhaps if anyone have it, can try to switch to another, the problem i think is the connector.

About the 5 1/4 floppy drive, you say that is standard, when can i see schematics for adapt an internal one??

Or better, when can I buy an external 5 1/4 floppy drive, and what model can I use for the Schneider?

Best Regards,

Genocho

Dear Jorg,

Wich 5 1/4 external drive can use in the schneider euro pc II?

Looking in inet, I found models of Ibm ps2 machines, commodore , but are all different pinout.

Any idea of wich can runs on the Schneider???

Regards,

Genocho.

Hi Genocho,

I am not sure, I never had an external floppy and its long ago I had the Schneider. It seemed to me that it might be the same connection as a standard internal floppydrive
from the description you gave.

It might be possible to use an internal floppy drive with en external power supply.
But I'm not sure.

schneider

schneider

Hello,

I have an semi dead euro pc 1 (damaged rtc battery lead to internal corrosion of the circuit board ). I have a dead external hard drive ( schneider hd20 with miniscribe mfm hdd ) and working external 5.15" fdd.

I am currently trying to buy a working euro pc on ebay to restart working on the computer.
As far as i know, one can connect a 8bit isa ide controller card / scsi card but to the expansion slot. The scsi with own bios should work best because the ide is dependant on the schneider´s bios?
As soon as i can i will try and see more info on the drives.

A Complete Guide to SD Memory Cards

SD memory, or secure digital cards, is an external storage mechanism that stores data. They are predominantly used in digital cameras to save photographs. When a picture is taken the photograph is saved to the SD memory card. That data can then be transferred from the SD memory card via an adaptor or memory card reader to a computer, or other devices such as a digital photo frame.
SD memory cards can also be used as an alternative to USB Flash Drives. Every computer comes with a fixed amount of memory. Most users will have additional memory requirements, for example storing photos, music or movies. In such cases a SD memory card can fulfil this requirement.

Wich 5 1/4 external drive can use in the schneider euro pc II?
I am sorry to bump an old thread, but I just bought myself a Schneider Euro PC too. It is the French edition sold as Dual Data, not sure if it corresponds to revision I or II. It will take some time to arrive, but if you in the mean time came up with any links to pinouts or compatible 5.25" floppy drives and for that matter hard drives, it would be nice to know.

As for the internal 8-bit ISA slot, I'll see if I stick a VGA or network card into it, or even leave it empty.

Edit: Aha, Genocho posted this on another forum: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=19074
