Screen judder on M4GA

Hi

I have fired up a M4GA that I recently purchased and the screen appears to have judder / momentary shrinkage. I have attached a link to a Youtube video where the judder becomes very apparent at the end of the short clip. I am not accessing the drives at this point so there would appear to be no additional load on the power supply. Any thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated.

I've encountered this same problem --- however the unit hadn't been fired up for some time and I think the video board had borderline components that needed heating up .... once the unit was on for several hours the problem dis-appears. There was a steady picture. So I would think the problem might be in the video board. Then again it could be the signals coming from the motherboard to the video card. May want to check with Ian and see what he says.

I see it now--have you monitored the supply voltage to the monitor to see if it changes?

I use 110V transformers to power my US imported machines. When I moved it to my workspace I used a different transformer and hey pesto... it appears to have stopped. A quick Amazon order later and I appear to be back in business. Thanks for your thoughts on the matter.

Likely power supply fluctuations from old caps and/or cold solder joints. It could also be in the display circuitry instead of the PSU.

Recap and reflow...

I've also seen that when the computer has been invaded by cobwebs and dust bunnies. They drain some of the high voltage from the tube envelope.
