There is a doubler for Model 1 on Ebay which I have never seen before.

Take a look at the printing on the PCB: 5/8 Zoll (5 / 8 Inch)
The printing on the PCB is in German, see the backside too (Seite 1), never seen this before.

Interesting. Didn't the LNW double have a toggle switch for drive size?

I noticed that the 40-pin DIP is the single density 1771, not a double density controller.
