Hello all,

Retired electrical engineer/software engineer/sys admin/project manager/IT dude here, Chicago area. I just joined to find out information related to an obscure minicomputer my wife worked on in the 1980's, and discovered many memory lanes that call for wandering! I'll have to stay focused.

My wife had some Four-Phase hardware that's been sitting in a box for at least 30 years. She worked on these systems back in the 80s. When they were obsoleted the company didn't even want the hardware back, so her team divvied up the boards and took them home. She had no intention of rebuilding a running system, but thought the parts would look good hanging on the wall. Those turquoise resistors, red and blue caps, gold and white ICs, not to mention the front panel are quite colorful. We finally took the box out of the closet, dusted them off and got them framed to commemorate the years we both worked in IT/systems development.

Thanks to NeXT for his expertise in determining what we had and what those boards (used to) do!

Other systems I've worked with include
  • Digital Equipment 'Golden Years' (PDP 11/70, VAX/VMS, Ultrix, VAX/750 up to Alpha 4100 )
  • Data General Nova/MicroNova
  • HP 9000/HP-UX
  • Realtime embedded systems (Z8000, RCA 1802, etc.)
Hope to talk to y'all on the forums!
Chris

Welcome to the forum!
We're a pretty diverse crowd here in terms of platforms, programming languages and skills. The micros are typically the bread and butter but there is absolutely people here who mainly work with minis and workstations., space permitting. ;)
