Hi all

I have received a 1541 Newtronics floppy drive, found in a pile of other garbage.

It appears to have a switch for the device number, a segment display and another (very mangled) switch with 0/1 written on it, possibly a drive number?

If it's one of those mechanisms where the heads go open I'm tempted to throw it out and just keep the PCB for spares.

When I turn it on it seems to initialize, but the 0/1 LED blinks and the 5 V starts to rise to uncomfortable levels at which point I turned it off again.

Is anyone familiar with these modifications? Something to keep or better used for parts?

There were two common mods that I do on my 1541 in those days:
1 - device# 8-11 where switch (es) - installed at the back or at the front.
2 - Write protect OFF/ON
I never seen a Segment display for device # 8/9. I can’t relate 0/1.
