Sorting through some cards, and this tiny component was left on desk afterwards. No idea what it is or which card I just broke...

Any ideas what this component even is? It almost looks like one of the sensors mice use to detect movement of the ball? No part numbers that I can see.

It's an inductor; I can't quite make out the markings--I have no idea of where it might go.

What kind of cards were you sorting? My first instinct when thinking about what kind of card might shed one of those would be a modem, but it's a world of possibilities.

Sound cards and single board computers. About 30 of them. I'll look over them eventually but then I'll probalby find ANOTHER part laying on my desk...
I know it'll be impossible to tell what card it came from, I was curious what the component itself might have been.

Inductors can be used as part of a filter circuit or as a timing element (e.g. a DC "buck/boost" circuit).
