I'd like to upgrade a small number of machines from an 8088 to a V20. I'd rather find CPUs from people I trust who have them sitting on a shelf for 20 years instead of rolling the dice with recycled CPUs on eBay ...

Does anybody have some that they want to part with? Or have a good source for these?

Thanks,
Mike

If you were local to me I’d offer to just give you a couple from the last tube of them I eBay’ed. I can’t vouch for the batch, but several individual ones I bought from the same seller work fine. But per Chuck’s post, shipping them would probably cost just as much as getting them from a vendor.

Chuck, thanks for the tip and booboo thanks for 2nd'ing the tip. I've placed my order; I just wish Ray had more items in stock, it could have been an expensive day for me. ;-0

(I have a Williams Defender here that is a basket case ...)

I have two (2) V20 CPUs vintage, in unknown condition which I could part with for some amount but not sure what they are worth, since they are fairly old, ceramic.

They say "NEC 8636W9 V20 / 070108D-8 (C) '84 NEC"

They seem to be in good shape in a static bad, one or two pins slightly bent on one of the chips. On eBay these seem to go for $20 each but I'm not sure about that.

I meant to say in a static *bag* ;)

Yeah I'm wondering how much these vintage ceramic chips from 1984 are worth, but my guess is not much. Thanks for the tip!

Raymond ships stuff fast. I picked up a few things that I've been looking for and some things that I didn't know I wanted until I saw them.

Now just to decide which 8088 gets an upgrade to a V20.
