Stackpole latching keys

I recently acquired a Heathkit H19 which has a couple of latching keys that aren't working properly.

They have a little metal hook that interfaces with the key to make it latch, but after a few presses, the metal hook falls away from the key and the key pops out. It seems like maybe the metal piece is supposed to have tension from a spring or something? Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Thanks.

Edit: I'd be happy to post a few pics if it helps.

Since it's a Heathkit product, suggest contacting the very active community at https://groups.google.com/g/sebhc for ideas.
Thanks! I didn't know about this group. I'm sure I'll find a lot of good info there.

Someone on Deskthority actually posted some really helpful pictures of these switches, and I managed to get mine mostly working for now. If anyone is looking for more information about this, I'd recommend looking here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27304
