Hi guys,

I have an original Tandy 1000. It has 128k on board and 256k on an addin card that also contains a DMA chip. I believe this is a factory card, and brings the total to 384kb.

What i want to know is, can I use a generic RAM card to get to the full 640k? Or does it have to be another genuine Tandy card?

Thanks in advance :)

Bobby.

A generic ram card should work but many of them tend to be longer than 10in which means they don't physically fit in the Tandy 1000 case.

Also the 128K T1K is a bit limited due to only having three slots. Ideally you want 512K on one card, and Tandy did eventually release such a card, look for one with the catalog number 25-1011. You probably have the earlier card which was catalog no. 25-1004.

You could also try to locate a 25-1009, which is similar to the 25-1011 without the PLUS expansion connector.

Hope this helps,

Ian.
