I recently acquired 2 1000 SL machines that appear to have been used as network terminals. Currently only one of them is bootable. There appears to be netboot support baked into the bios and when I run setupsl /a I get a network boot option screen. What I am wondering is if this is normal for the SL or are the roms in this one oddballs?
The rom version is 1.04.01 and shows as type 41

It also seems to be missing red on the rgb port, I checked to make sure it isn't in monochrome mode so it isn't that. Hopefully it's something fixable there.

None of the early Tandy machines supports booting from LAN (PXE or Netware). The BIOS especially in the 1000 SL is very simple. I suspect the network boot capability in your case is provided by an EPROM/EEPROM on a network card that is inserted in one of the ISA slots. If you remove the ROM (or the netword card, if the ROM is soldered), the network boot prompt should disappear. Do you have the photo of the boot screen or the network ports? Is the port RJ45, BNC or AUI?

One of the machines had a dlink ne2000 clone in it, which has been removed, the network boot options are built in, and access via setupsl /a. I have two of these machines, both also appear to have some issue with the color output, as if one of the rgb signals is missing or switched off.

I would be interested in buying one of the SL machines with the network ROM. I live in New Jersey.

This is where I got them. 2 of three are bootable so far, but both have the weird video issue. I am using them with an rgb2hdmi, but it works normally with my other 1000, 1000 SX and 1000 TX. I may drag over one of my CRTs just to make sure it isn't some sort of odd compatibility issue.

I think all 1000sl and tl had those network boot options in setup advanced options.

It seems my video issues are related to my rgb2hdmi. I have the TexElec model, for some reason both working 1000 SL machines output the colors wrong, but all of my other 1000s seem fine. I have used 1000/1000SX/1000TX with it and all is normal. I drug out my CM11 and everything looks normal. Has anyone here ever used an RGB2HDMI with the SL series?

If it's the same model from TexElec that I have, there are endless amounts of settings. Have you tried tweaking any of them or selecting a different preset?

Also, have you tried any games that change the SL's graphics mode? The SL has improved graphics that go beyond the TGA of the previous systems and there may be a compatibility issue.

You can also try different firmware for the converter. Also note they mention to format or wipe the SD card before updating, if you don't it can cause palette issues.

I tried some of the presets but no change. I might try newer firmware at some point, it's still running with what it came with.
