As I wind my way through my "New" life,I have come to a conclusion about how to accomplish the projects that have been begun.I have two modes. The first is "Total Immersion",where I concentrate all my effort on the project at hand. The problem with that is ,well...That's ALL I can do.None of my share of the Cooking,Cleaning,Yard work and such,is even considered.I am 100% FOCUSED on the project. This might seem a good strategy with a maximum chance of success.But...well there is my Wife to consider. She will only put up with that mode for a short time before she becomes "unhappy".(All married men know, what I am talking about)So to keep the peace and still accomplish something,I've adopted the "Shotgun Approach"to solve my total lack of chore output while in the "Focused"mode.
The "Shotgun" method is simple and hard at the same time, especially since I can no longer "Multitask".I set up a number of projects and flit between them as the day moves on.There is then time for the more routine tasks that I must still accomplish.(RULE 1of a Happy Marriage is to keep your wife HAPPY!)The problem becomes, that nothing seems to move toward a conclusion too fast. There is a "Happy Median" here somewhere,I just haven't arrived there yet.
Here are the current "Targets".Reassemble a FujitsuTeampad,Figure out how to rebuild a battery pack for a Tablet PC(I've never done one before),Repair or refurbish or Junk an IBM 760EL that has a memory problem I can;t seem to figure out,Assemble the bits of an Xybernaut MAV5 into something that resembles a PC,Finish the installation of a CD-ROM in my IBM Eduquest AIO PC,Clear an area out in a spare room to set up the Eduquest, and so on...There are way more projects that are started and then left as my attention wanders.
I really DO try to organize myself,I take notes, read the notes I take, try to figure out just what the heck it was that I wrote down and so on.At any rate this is where I am now. It's a system that works well enough.
