The following link shows an unbranded motherboard that I recently acquired to replace an AST motherboard that was faulty: https://stason.org/TULARC/pc/motherboards/U/UNIDENTIFIED-286-286-TURBO.html The question I wanted to ask deals with the reset control on the motherboard, shown as J3. I know that the switch for J3 is a momentary type. When I ordered and received a set of momentary switches there were two different types of momentary switches. One switch is normally open or off, which depressed would interrupt a circuit by forcing the signal to a different path. The other switch is normally closed or on, which depressed would interrupt the signal.

With the IBM AT or 5170, the reset is shown in the following flow diagram: http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/5170/motherboard/5170_reset_flow.jpg. In this case, if a switch were inserted between the clock signal and the inverter then the switch would be normally closed or on. Depressing the button would interrupt the clock signal. However, I am perplexed as to which one of the monetary switches to use since I don't have much information on the motherboard I am using. I am curious as to how closely did the generic manufacturers of the 286 motherboard between the 1986-89 years come to matching the IBM AT series motherboard?

Momentary-closed (i.e. NO) is the rule. Even on a 5170, connecting a momentary NO pushbutton between Power Good and ground will work as a reset.
