Does anyone know or have experience with creating a LS-DOS (for booting a FreDH on a Model 4) from a model 3 running L-DOS (w/FreHD) so I can boot my Model 4 that I am expecting to arrive in two weeks or so ??? I should be receiving my auto boot ROM this week (or so I hope) for the model 3, so I may have more options. Right now I was thinking (or at least hoping) that I could use dsk/dct copy the LS-DOS boot disk image to drive 6 then using qfb or the LS-DOS backup command on the LS-DOS image, copy the whole thing to a blank disk that I format using SU+. Do you think it would boot ??? Am I missing something ??? Ladies and Gentlemen your input, Please.

Cheers

Ross

Hi Ross, once you have attached your floppy image file to the system using DSK/DCT then you don't need to copy it all to the hard drive, you can just use DISKCOPY command to make a floppy. If you are using LDOS then you use QFB which does the same thing as DISKCOPY.

Once your FreHD arrives if you run into problems let me know.

Cheers,

Ian.

Thanks Ian

This question is help the other newbies who just had their (head)lights turned on.
Should I copy Sys0 first on to the drive or will the order that qfb uses be correct ???

Cheers

Ross

QFB / DISKCOPY is not a file copy program, its a whole disk copy program, so it copies one cylinder at a time, starting with cylinder 0.

To copy files individually you would use the BACKUP command.

Hope this helps,

Ian.
