Hello All,

I'm trying to add a TK50 to my PDP-11/53, and I sourced the drive and controller separately. In the guide for the TK50, it says of the controller:

"Make sure the revision level DIP switch matches the revision level of the module.
The revision level is stamped on the back of the module; Table 2-33 shows the
switch setting."

I cannot find anything stamped on the back of the module. Can anyone provide a picture of this revision level stamp?

The controller board DIP switch was set to "6", which would correspond a revision "F", but I would like to be sure that it is configured correctly.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Cheers, Jon.

Apparently according to this FCO document from Manx (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjK1O_8jK_8AhVkIDQIHc5_CaM4ChAWegQIChAB&url=https://manx-docs.org/collections/mds-199909/cd2/fco/tqk50r02.pdf&usg=AOvVaw0MtsLdCqJVTMDkg6n_FFDI) it is stamped on the extractor handle (the non-component side of the board), or if FCO'd then a sticker is placed over it. My controller appears to be revision K4, which corresponds to revision 9, a version produced after the FCO went out.
Ahhh, looking closely at the extractor handle I do see "728 H3" stamped into it.

If we use DEC's lettering scheme (ABCDEFHJKLMNPRSTUF) we get:

0 has no letter
1 is A
2 is B
3 is C
4 is D
5 is E
6 is F
7 is H this should correspond to my board revision
8 is J
9 is K corresponding to your board revision

...OR... according to the document you referenced:

Etch Rev. + Module Rev. = New Module Rev.
D1 + C1 = J1
D1 + D1 = J1
D1 + E1 = J1
D1 + F1 = J1
C1 + F2 = J2
D1 + H1 = K1
C1 + H2 = K2
E1 + H3 = K3

My board is etch rev E1 (5-06268-01E1-P1) and the handle says "H3", so my board is rev K3, which means "9", like yours.

I guess I can try both "7" and "9" and see what works...

Does this make sense?

Thanks, Jon.

It's worth a try, I'd start with 9. On my board the PCB part number is 5016268-01E1-P1 which according to the document means etch revision E1, and with module version K4 on the handle. So maybe E1 + K4 = K4?
