Hey all,

I'm mid process fixing a T1000SE after recapping and trace repair from leaks, it's still not starting up. Power switch clicks on for a second (draws ~100mA), some LEDs light, backlight kicks in, then the power circuit drops out assumedly due to one or more of the power rails not coming up correctly.
My problem is that I can't find any schematics for this, and there's no real markings for test points etc on the mainboard, so while I can test the obvious 5V rail and see that's working I don't know where to test the other rails to see where the problem could be. Basically flying blind...

Does anyone have any knowledge on this power circuitry, or maybe even have one of these available that they could take apart and mark out some probe points for the various rails?
Cheers!

I'm in the same situation than you with my Toshiba T1000SE, even worst becuase I found a burnt resistor in the power supply area but I don't know its value.

I marked in red where it was soldered. Maybe can you check its value in your computer ?

Sorry for the delay, only just saw this!
It looks like a fusible resistor on the main battery power input rail, measures 1.27 ohms on mine. Hope this helps!

I don’t want to break your hopes but the entire 1000/2000 lineup of the 90s is known to have psu problems that are mysterious and difficult to fix ; if possible at all
The general recommendation is to stay away from them ( or get them for free )

Regarding the schematics the entire community of Toshiba collectors would love to have them

I feel we’re not doing enough to get them .

I made my share by emailing some corporate guy who never replied ; but I’m sure an organisation like vcf has to have more power than me ; or that at some event someone knows someone that could finally talk to someone who would do something and release those old Toshiba schematics ; if they even exist ar this stage

Toshiba has been bought twice since that era and is now mostly an empty shell putting a brand on stuff . So it’s difficult to know who to contact . It’s also likely to be someone in Japan ; at the end of the day ; having a native speaker help and explain would make a difference I’m sure

It’s simply never gonna happen if none lobbies for it - and vcf sure like an org that could help .

Many many thanks, I'll find the resistor (or closer value) and soder it in the PCB. I'll tell you...

Bad news for me then... Anyway I'll do my last attemp before to give me up. Thank you for your advise.
