Hi Australian IBM collectors. Do you have a working, cased, basic configuration 5150 or 60 you'd like to exchange for a ticket into the exciting world of the BBC Micro model B? 😀 I will limit scope to Australian delivery given the cost of shipping these things.

I have

BBC Micro Model B, Issue 4 (AU)

- Good, working condition. Has only been used for Games and Demo playback. Since purchasing, it has always been handled with ESD safety in mind, and used on a UPS

- Casings good (Top is very good), engravings on underside of lower case. Mismatch in the colouring between top and bottom. Not sure if that's a retrobrite fixable thing

- PSU had recapping by previous owner in 2020

- BooBip 32K sideways RAM / ROM fitted

- MMFS ROM

- Turbo MMC drive loaded with software

- Digital joystick breakout (2 ports)

- RGB output works with RGBtoHDMI (not included)

- Packed box is 500mm x 500mm x 130mm, just under 5kg

I'm looking for

- IBM 5150/60 case with working PSU + working(booting) matching model mainboard+8088 (not concerned about serial numbers matching or revisions), it can be "scruffy (honest "scruffy" - I've seen some VERY loose use of this qualifier), a good daily driver is the goal.

- correct, mounted speaker

- no floppy drives or floppy controllers needed, nor am I worried if there's no black blanking plates for the drive bays (though it would be nice)

- no hard drives or hard drive controllers needed, as previously mentioned nor am I worried if there's no black blanking plates for the drive bays (though again, it would be nice)

- base RAM is fine

- CGA ISA card, or EGA (original IBM equipment would be nice)

Basically I'm hoping for something reliable and honest that I can build up on. I realise the value in the expansion cards and would prefer to forgo those (excluding base minimum for booting with display) for a better base PC and to improve chances of a trade.

I'm supposed to be streamlining my retro affliction, so I'm picking a few things to aim for and moving other things along. I have fond memories of passively participating in the early PC world and there is apparently a good amount of these machines, parts and upgrades around, along with the astounding amount of info - so I figured it might be worth a shot to trade before I look to eBay.

I thought I'd post this here and see what interest I get, will throw to eBay if nothing comes of it by end of this, or maybe following weekend. I will update the thread to reflect the outcome.

Happy to discuss in the open thread, I realise there might need to be some arrangements around shipping, please DM for that. I don't know a lot about the IBM machines, so hopefully the expertise here can help correct anything I've confused in this post.

The BBC will be listed on eBay this weekend (11,12 May) so very likely the trade opportunity is now passed.
