So I have two sounds cards I want to put in my Windows 98 machine, a Gravis Ultrasound Max 2.1 for DOS stuff, and a Aureal Vortex 1 based card for Windows 98 stuff (with a DreamBlaster X2 attached)

How do you do this? Run a line out from one card into the line in into another, and then from that card to speakers? I've heard of people running 3 sound cards for max compatibility. Seems interesting, but ill stick to 2 for now if I can work this out and the probable IRQ conflicts =P

That's how I had mine setup back in the early '90s. Original Ultrasound + Pro Audio Spectrum 16, Line out from the GUS to the PAS, seem to remember the GUS not having a hardware mixer. Along with a network card and other items, I think I successfully used every IRQ.

I run an AWE32 + GUS PnP both in dos at the same time, feed their outputs into a Rolls RM203x 10 channel stereo Mixer (its nice, 1u rack format) then the master out from that into an amp. Nice thing with this since its a 10ch stereo mixer I can feed my midi modules into it at the same time

Good to hear it should work.

Now to just find drivers for it, a "Terratec Xlerate"

The normal 8820 drivers do not seem to work with it.
