Hi Marty,

I don't have any documentation but maybe a long shot might work. I spent 540 classroom hours on the Varian 62Oi back in late '74 and early '75. At the time it was part of a ECM threat simulator called an AN/ALM106B or MATE for short (Mobile Automatic Test Equipment). The system was integrated by Sanders Associates out Nashua, NH. They're no longer in business and as I understand it, eventually sold out to BAE Systems Electronics & Integrated Solutions, also located in Nashua. I think they still may be active in Defense contracting. You might want to give them a call and maybe they could put you in contact with someone there that may have saved or stashed away some Varian manuals. What I remember is that the documentation that we had was reproduced from the originals and we were always on the phone to Sanders to confirm whether or not a certain gate was an AND or NAND, etc. The copies were full of "fly specks" which made things extremely hard to deal with. The system was classified at that time so we were not permitted to take anything, including notes, out of the classroom. Good luck and let us know if you come up with anything.

Marty,

Have you been in touch directly with Al Kossow? He may have addtional docs not yet posted to bitsavers as well as knowledge of other contacts. This is a nice machine - good luck with it!

Jack
