VAXstation 2000 no console

I have a MicroVAX 2000 which I can get to boot and display a console using the MMJ adapter and a VT100.
I also own a VAXstation 2000 which is apparently identical to the MicroVAX save for the position of a single jumper. I don't have a video cable for the machine so I toggled the jumper into MicroVAX mode, plugged in the MMJ adapter and flipped the power switch. I get nothing on the terminal. I don't even get a DSR light. The machine just sits there with the hard disk spinning. I stripped the machine down to the bare logic board (no additional boards attached and I'm still getting nothing. +5 and +12 seem fine but I swapped power supplies anyways with no success. Have I forgotten another setting?

I read that over but I must of glazed on the pin shorting part.
After soldering in a jumper to pins 8 and 9 I found that you don't use a null modem cable, I went through a pile of adapters and eventually sound one with the same pin conversion as the adapter he described. I got a console now. Thanks.
