VCF Midwest - who's going?

Galloping Ghost would be a trip for in itself. Nearest large scale arcade near me is Rocket Arcade in South Haven, MI. They have around 75 games on the floor, 60 are set for free play. The majority of his games are 20-50 years old, the golden age of arcade games.

How far are you from south haven? I'm up in Muskegon, I do both arcade and vintage computer stuffs.

I'm northwest of Buchanan. About 45 minutes south of South Haven. I've been to Muskegon once, sort of. I was taking a connecting flight to Detroit via Northwest starting in Benton Harbor, and we stopped in Muskegon to pick up passengers. A quick stop at the airport, then off to Detroit.

I haven't been to Rocket Arcade yet. I found out about them via an ad on Facebook. I read they have 2 locations they host machines at, a pizza place in St Joseph (Nardo's), and a hard cider tasting room/ bowling alley near Stevensville (Pete's Cider Social.)

I had a fantastic time. I had my table set up right outside the doors. which meant I could sell before the main doors opened! Huge thanks to @Silent700 and volunteers for putting on an amazing event. Being outside also made load in/out a breeze.

In the end, I sold 80% of what I brought. I was amazed at how many people were in the market for old phones and pda's. I agree on the cash/card thing. I had a Square reader with me, and at least half paid with a card. Thanks to tap and pay most swipes were done in under 10 seconds.

I'm already looking forward to '24!

This was my 2nd VCFMW and my first time exhibiting, I had an awesome time.
It was also my second time attending and my first time exhibiting. The idea of a guestbook is really cool.

For my exhibit we configured the machines to browse the Internet through theoldnet.com proxy to 1996. RetroTech Chris made a YouTube short of my exhibit here...

If we stick with the Clarion for another year I'll drag along some AC voltage dataloggers so we can spectate the fun. ;)
I want the spreadsheet CSV files on these forums so we can all make our own graphs out of it! 😁 I bet no other event in that hotel even compares to the amount of electricity used by VCFMW.

that thing feeds to type 830D chart paper at like, 12 inches an hour! That's going to be a lot of data points to plot! D:
(there's also a pile of these recorders on ebay right now and they are all $50 or less - https://www.ebay.com/itm/276031396644 )
Oh, I thought you meant modern digital that has a micro-SD card slot or something. If you live in a big city, believe it or not, your local library may have a digital one you can check out. One of the libraries around me has all kinds of electronics and non-book stuff you can check out.

Here's a video from Ron's Computer Videos on the convention. Because I still want to relive it. 😎

This seems like the most appropriate thread to post a link to my VCF Midwest photo gallery. Enjoy!

As for power, line conditioners and UPSs won the day at VCFMW, assuming you had equipment sensitive to the power drop. I'm considering packing one for future events as a precaution.
