Hi,

I own this EGA rare card from VIDEO7 manufacturer:

http://www.student.nada.kth.se/~d94-tan/pckort/hpegaeng.txt

I´m trying all the combination possible to use his video modes, and oly obtain ega graphics with the din-9 conector, but never obtain any video output in both rca outputs.

Any know, or have this video card to know how can obtain video output from the rca ????

Perhaps I need any driver (HPEGA.COM), or change any pcb jumper, or perhaps rca outputs are rca inputs.......but for what???

All info is welcome,

Regards.

Druid6900:

Are you sure of this ??? Please if you have info, photos or know how to obtain composite video output tell it to me.

Looking in uncreative labs forum I see this in a thread, but perhaps not is my case:

"The RCA connector on an ega card is NOT a composite, it is a feature connector,
pc mag in a rare tech article, printed info on how to add a frequency generator thru this connector to get a higher resolution on the screen
SO that rca plug/jack on the ega card may or likely is not a composite conector"

Is this true ???

Any info is welcome, and with photos too, my goal is obtain ega composite or cga composite for games like tapper, spy hunter, bruce lee, etc,

Regards.

I have several ATI EGA cards and I take a cable with an RCA jack on both ends, plug one end into one of the card RCA outputs, the other into an amber composite monitor I have and I get the correct output.

I think what the person in the thread meant was a frequency doubler, not a frequency generator. A doubler would take it just about into the low end of some VGA monitors and a "tweaker" variable capacitor would nudge it up enough to sync.

Your board may do that, but for the vast unwashed bulk of EGA cards the RCA jacks go to the feature connector and nowhere else. If you have a feature board that can generate composite video on your EGA adapter, then the jacks are connected to something. Otherwise, they're NC.

Ok, well, I'll just have to charge more for them then LOL

Not specific to the Video7, but in general you're both right. ATI's EGA Wonder does have a jumper (J3 on most versions) that selects composite out or feature on RCA jack J1 (in addition to the internal connector), so yes, Dru, it probably is in fact worth more than most generics which don't have composite out.

So after all these years anyone got HPEGA.COM driver as mentioned in the first post?
I need this to emulate CGA on similar card...

thanks
