I'm planning on volunteering for a non-profit that has an inventory of vintage Apple, IBM, Compaq and TRS-80/Tandy computers on hand that were donated and need to be tested.

I was wondering if the group here would like me to post the eBay listings once they are put up for sale? And should I put them in a separate thread or the eBay thread?

I found a few high value vintage Apple II items today, and there will be quite a bit (dozens of systems) to be tested and prepped for sale. A couple of TRS-80 Model IIs were there, but I didn't see the keyboards. There are pallets of items to go through, so it will take a while. And I'll be sure to keep an eye out for anything outside my area of expertise that people here would be interested in.

None of these items are tested and ready for sale yet, and there are some restrictions on selling systems for parts (but for some of the older systems, they may be able to get around this.) So there may be some good deals on systems that aren't 100% working...

There may be some Unix workstations / vintage server gear too, the facility is very large and I only had an hour there today.

Are you volunteering at Computer Corps? I've been there many times over the years and there are very few people who have worked there that really know the value of the vintage hardware. I would welcome someone who really knows what's there, and what it's worth.

Yes, I'm planning to volunteer at Computer Corps. As I know the value of the vintage hardware from here and from eBay, I gave them some estimates today on the IIgs gear, including one system with a Zip GSX, Focus drive and GS-RAM III 4MB... that one should make them some decent money if it's all working. And some of it may come up for local sale, like the Model IIs and such, since some things are just to fragile to ship. They also do sell some things by craigslist... with the quantity of some of the systems, that might be easier than selling on eBay. Especially for complete systems, unless the original packaging is all there.

I might go over there next weekend on my way down to California for a quick trip to Hanford... I can arrange things so that Carson City is on my way through, as I live in Silver Springs.

Just got done with my first four hours, tested / built a very clean ROM 01 IIgs system with Zip GSX, AE GS-RAM III 4MB, 5.25 drive, keyboard and mouse. It should be going up for sale later this week, I'll be sure to post a link. Spent the day finding good components to set up an Apple II test bench, and then testing a few systems.

The Focus hardcard for the IIgs has a bad hard drive, we're looking for a replacement and will sell it separately.

I tested an Apple Color RGB monitor for the IIgs, very clean no yellowing / engraving / markings, in original box. Very nice picture, no noise from the monitor. Unfortunately we didn't have a monitor cable (I brought mine to test), so it will be sold separately and not as part of the IIgs system.

I tested an Apple //c, but the connector on my power supply broke before I could validate everything on it. There are a few more //c systems, two ][ pluses and a //e.

In two weeks, I may test some Tandy 1000 systems to see if we can get a couple up for sale (a few 1000EX/HX systems, a 1000 TL/2, and a 1000TX, along with a CM-11 monitor). The TL/2, TX and monitor are in the original boxes.

I did power on an SE/30 that showed a garbage pattern on screen, it probably will need to be re-capped. Good clear video... it may be a good deal for someone willing to repair.

So glad you were able to get in there and break some of those machines out. If you should happen to stumble across a Compaq Portable 386 or SystemPro...

Dave...

We do have quite a few Compaq portables of the 286/386 lunchbox variety, I'll have to see if I can find a 386 one and get it working... as for the SystemPro, it's possible, but I haven't seen one yet.
