Vt 125...

It is definitely high on my wants list but I haven't seen one turn up for a very long time. I narrowly missed out on one a few years ago.

What that suggests is that they do not turn up often enough to get a sense of their market value. Correct?

Pretty much. My reply was a bit flippant, but essentially correct. I haven't gotten to any of the retro-computer events so I can't say what has been available there, but on Ebay and Criagslist, they are pretty rare. As I recall there was a VT-100 with a partial keyboard (i.e. keycaps missing) that was listed for around $600 but I don't recall if it actually sold or if the listing just ran out with no takers. Currently there is a person looking to find the value of a VT-180 (Robin) but that's a slightly different animal than a VT-125. If you are looking to sell one then it would have much more value if it has a working keyboard. There have been several VT-100's listed without keyboards. Apparently separated at some time and lost. Keyboards being sold alone are even more rare. Probably as a result of the vintage keyboard craze by some gamers.

No, I do not have one. As I have seen with other items, if things do not turn over relatively frequently, it is very difficult to figure out pricing. It is the Wild West as far as sellers are concerned and pricing is all over the map...

DeeAnn,
If you don't have to have the VT100 appearance, but you are simply looking for VT125 functionality, you should
take a look at the VT LAN40. This is the last terminal that DEC made and they are still available from Keyways.

http://keyways.com/vtlan40.html

It can do VT52, VT100, VT220, VT420 and VT340 (including color Regis graphics) displaying on a VGA flat screen.
You will need to supply the flat screen monitor and LK401 keyboard (also available at Keyways).
These terminals feature a range of connectivity with two serial connections, and also via ethernet LAT, Telnet, and
CTERM (DECnet SET HOST). They run around $400 plus shipping.

Multiple windows to different sessions are available on the screen simultaneously. However it doesn't look
much like a VT125.

Best,
Mark

Oh, I am going to have to apologize and correct myself!

I just realized that I got my terminology wrong. What I really meant was a VT-103, which is a VT-100 with a Q-Bus backplane. It accepts an LSI-11 processor and related hardware.

Very Sorry for misnaming the device...

DeeAnn,

Oh, those are pretty rare. I don't have any idea where you might find one.

An alternative that might be interesting could be made from a regular VT100.

Good Luck,

That is an interesting hardware family. I have seen the name, but I never got around to checking the web site until now. Surprisingly affordable...
