Looking for a power supply for the 2wire 1701HG dsl modem. I'm trying to not pay the $70 that AT&T wants for a new modem by using this one that I got at the thrift store. It works, but I don't have a power supply that's suitable for it. The voltage is 5.1vdc@2A, but I have read that it can use 6v, but it must be 2A.

Anyone have one with this rating? I can re-cable it, I have the original but it's burned out. It has the barrel jack.

got one, so nevermind the request. Now the servers on ATT's side are down, go figure.Good'ol dialup still stands the test of time. I wish the net still catered to it.

I DON'T (miss dialup). Nothing is more fun than downloading a file for 16 hours. I would wake up, make sure it was still working ok, and go back to bed.

Oh, I agree about the speeds being terrible, but for right now it's the only thing that works. As of now the server is still down, and I am betting it'll be down till probably Tuesday. I can't download the big files, but I got some kind of connectivity, at least.

This is sarcastically hilarious.

I can get every machine online BUT the big machine. What seems to have happened is during the course of two years of computer classes and lots of network setups for class, I changed something critical, now it's not talking to the modem over ethernet. I'm gonna try using USB but I have to get a different universal power conector, cause this one is angled-- perfect to block the USB port. So I'm off to walmart later to get the universal.

I was able to get the win95 laptop online real quick, same with the iBook. But win2k and the most hot-rodded machine will not connect. <sigh> The joys of networking.

I FINALLY got it working!! What was happening was the computer was using an incorrect driver. a DRIVER!!!!! This lady's post out of Yorkshire helped me tremendously. I noticed there was something wrong when the mac address was all FF, so I investigated and now it's working!! Big downloads here I come!!!!!!
