My well-loved pens are 12 years old and the ink doesn't stay wet long before the cap has to be put back on, so it can get wet again after a while.

I can't find any replacement pens online. Delkin seems to no longer make Archival Gold discs or these special marker pens anymore.

I really wish I would've bought more back in the day. I don't want to take any chances using regular Sharpie markers.

These are the pens I'm looking for:

I've used sharpie permanent markers on CD/DVD media for decades and never had any issues with them causing damage. The discs suffer bronze rot from the outside in after 10-15 years, but it never starts near the writing.

I've even had spools of CD-Rs that recommended using sharpie markers for writing labels, and to avoid ball point pens for obvious reasons.

The only two things I can recommend if you don't want to use a sharpie is to try non-toxic markers, which have much less or no solvent in them. The writing may not be as durable though.

The other option is to get a fine paint brush and black paint and paint letters on, but that'd take forever.

Just my personal preference. Using them gives me peace of mind. Regardless, thank you for sharing your feedback.

I contacted the company via email, and they will be sending me their last new pen free of charge! :)
