When did the 8-bit era end?

The 22, 33, 66, 77, 88, and 99 buttons look even more useful than the 00. I try to use the 00 on my B128 whenever I can just to keep it working.

I still use 8-bit machines! I have a TRS-80 Model 4D that I use standalone and as a terminal to my Altair 8800 Clone (another 8-bit machine)

I say 1985, because that was when the Amiga 1000 and Atari ST were released, and two of the leading microcomputer manufacturers largely abandoned the 8-bit architectures in favor of 16-bit architectures. The Tandy 1000 and Macintosh, both 16-bit computers, were released a year earlier. If you go by the end of production of 8-bit PCs, then the 8-bit era probably went into the early 90s.

It's also worth noting that there are computers being manufactured today that are 8-bit. Texas Instruments graphing calculators use the 8-bit Z80 processor, the same processor used in the TRS-80, and some Arduinos are 8-bit as well.
