Where to get SD2IEC in the states?

That is a nice looking unit. I am baffled too on that audio connector labeled “serial”. As you mentioned that a IEC / DIN cable is soldered there, maybe the other IEC connector on the board is a “pass through “ for other devices.
Comparing it with the schematic (thanks for sharing), the schematic has some TTL leveling parts that are not present on this board. May I know where you got this board from? Intrigued!

PS: i think using the 3 terminal audio plug (used for A/V) suffice the IEC connector. Gnd + 3-IEC Pins. +5V is taken from the cassette port.

OK I did some playing and testing. I labeled these photos so I can demontrate the pinout I found. Using the IEC connector on the rar and the underside of the board for the missing 3.5mm jackIMG_20230118_103654.jpgIMG_20230118_103704.jpg

What I found is on the rear DIN connector:
Pin 1 is NC
pin 2 is Ground
Pin 3 connects to A + E on the 3.5MM jack
Pin 4 connects to B + C on the 3.5mm jack
Pin 5 connects to D on the 3.5mm jack
Pin 6 NC

For kicks I did not connect the short IEC cable to the C64 but instead ran a regular full IEC cable from the C64 to the rear IEC connector on the SD2IEC and it works fine that way.

I still have no idea what this 3.5mm jack is!!!

I know that. I meant the 3.5mm connector. Some websites claim its used to import audio. Like I said I cant find any real manual for this model board.

I meant the 3.5mm connector also.
This circuit has it wired to the serial port, no audio input, That would be a cassette emulator with a quite different circuit.

I'm guessing cheap, available, easy to get connector that had enough conductors to work.

Just grab a $1.00 cable off aliexpress, cut off the end and solder to a 6 pin din, and boom cheap cable to include with the device.

Here's a example of that version with the cable attached.

Yeah I think your right..

Don't get your hopes up. ATMega644-20AU chips are the problem here. Digikey is out, Mouser is out, current delivery time is 66 weeks. next batch expected around september which will probably be sold out in days. I would not expect a regular supply anytime soon. In the mean time you can have my external unit for 25 USD (shipping included)

Hi - Do you still have this available? I have a friend that I gave a C64 to so he could try some 6502 programming, but I need one of these so he can get some stuff loaded up as well!

Thanks!

Still looking for an affordable SD2IEC so let me know if you have one to sell!
I bought one from Koolstar42 and the price was very reasonable. It works great as well. It doesn't have the a serial pass through port, though - but it's solid!

Oh thats right.. You did post that. Yes I am looking for the standard external device I can use easily across multiple computers.

Well you can use the board in an external device too. It only misses the tape connector for the 5 volt supply. You just solder a serial plug on a short lead to the board, apply 5volt and you're in business. I can whip this up for you if you like. 3d print a fancy box and all...
