Wondering about a vintage computer for both floppies and USB

It was suggested that this was a software question, but it seem like hardware to me.

I mostly use the antiquated Word Perfect 5.1 DOS for word processing in a computer not hooked up to the internet, just for text, with a floppy drive. It was custom-assembled for me by a friend who liked to tinker for fun, and it's about 30 years old.

It may be finally dying, though, and I'm looking for a replacement--but also something now obsolete: A computer that has both an A-drive for floppies and USB portx. These were being made probably about a decade ago, apparently especially by Dell. It would be hard enough just to find any floppy-USB combination, but it's even harder to find one to accommodate WP5.1. And even harder because I'm not a techie myself, and I don't know the language.

So I'm hoping for something with both an A-drive and USB ports, preferably weighing under 28 pounds, that would be able to have WP5.1, Corel 11, Microsoft Word (preferably an older version), and Excel. I've discovered that Dell made some models maybe about 10-15 years ago (Optiplex, Inspiron, Precision), but I don't know the difference between them, whether they could be used for WP5.1, or how to choose between them. (I called Dell, ending up talking to some guy in India who was no help.) But I get the feeling that choosing the machine and choosing the operating system are two entirely separate questions, so I'm just asking here about the computer itself.

I'd be very grateful for any guidance.

I'm sitting in front of a Asrock 980DE3 Description--it's not the latest, but is late enough (Socket AM3+) to be a daily driver. Not only does it host USB 3, but it also has an IDE as well as SATA connectors--and a legacy floppy port. Whatever box you put it in is up to you.

Have that same board , now retired. Might be interested in selling it with a 6 core 6300FX and 8gb ram DDR3. Have the orginal box and backplate.

Yeah, I've never upgraded from this board--have 16GB of DDR3 and a decent video card. I can't really see much of an advantage for the things that I do if I move to a later motherboard. Linux AMD64 is nice and snappy on it. I've only got a quad-core CPU on it.

I also have the asrock 980de3 as a backup to my other am3 system both with floppy support. I'm digging in on these as I am not liking later boards seeing only losses in features. They run the latest linux great.

I run something like 4 AM3/AM3+ systems. Different manufacturers, but Linux works just fine on all, including Virtualbox. This was a sweet spot in later PC development, I think.

My AMD K2-6 400 test boxen has both 3.5: fdd AND USB 2.0 support via a four part pci USB card. It aint hard...

Slackware 14.2 running XFCE4 in 256megs of ram.

It's hard to recommend anything without more information. What exactly are you doing with WP5.1, Corel 11, MS Word and Excel?

Do you need to print? Or are you just creating content for cutting and pasting into another system?

Excel was never directly supported in DOS. It came with a Windows 2 runtime. Will you be using a mouse? How much RAM do you need?

Could QuatroPro be a substitute to Excel?

"Corel 11"? Is that CorelDraw 11? That runs on modern Windows. Are you using that now? On the same machine you are using WP5.1?

Can you snap a picture of your computer and share it here? Also some screen shots?
