Is there any copy available ? I can only find old as 2.26.

The installation manual from version 3.0 states you need at least a 40 column wide CRT monitor but any resolution below 64 gives me an error at start.

The reason for that I am looking for a version that works in 40 column to run on C64 with a CP/M cartridge.

Well, 1.0 wasn't the first version released--I may still have my 0.9x version on some of my old disks.

Are you patching the user area directly or are you trying to use the installation program? The former is far more flexible.

I am patching it the older installations are stuck to the term definitions.

I would like to know if there is indeed a WS version that supports 40 columns. I changed the C64 CP/M and added ADM 3A cursors support, I can run Turbo Pascal in 40 columns beautifully. But I want a real WordStar on it as well.

Hmmm, I've been looking at some of my old stuff.

Are you certain that WS can be used with a 40-column display? I can find no examples of it. My earliest copy used a 64 column display.

Look at page 1-1 Terminal or Video Board:

But this is not really true for version 3, the version of this manual. I wonder if this is an old statement on the manual that only applied to earlier versions. This is why I want to take a look in a 1.0 or early versions.

Yeah, I know--but I think that's an error.

At any rate, attached is WS 1.01--really, really primitive (you'll note that there are no overlays). I've renamed the files from .COM to .CPM to avoid any virus flags on Windows machines. You can rename them back.

well if you don't have it nevermind because I see it's installed for ADM 3A.

Patching to 40 columns is a no-go. So yeah, wordstar needs 64 columns it won't work on the c64 cp/m without an 80 column card.

Which I do have one see the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFsHDW1WnaE&t=36s

I just wanted to make it available for those who just have an stock c64.

Anyway thanks for this wordstar, it's a really precious software not available anywhere.

I grabbed it too. Thanks Chuck..you never know when you might need ancient software like this.

There was a Wordstar-ish program for the C64 that someone wrote; not CP/M. It's in standard .D64 format:

here

Other than the name and platform, I don't know a thing about it.

The C64 could generate a 64 column display using a 5 point font. You could probably patch CP/M to do this on boot up.
