Hey all,

Title says it all. Not picky on brand. Just looking for one that works. Something about those old green screens just appeals to me lately.

I'm in the southeast US.

Thanks!

If you cant find one locally, can always RGB mod a 90s to early 2000s CRT television... its a mod called the Jungle Chip mod. Then just use the green input. Its not perfect but its pretty decent.

Some models of the Smith Corona PWP (Personal Word Processor) had a green monochome monitor with RCA input. You can occasionally find the monitors pretty cheap on ebay because they aren't listed as "monochrome monitors." Here is one for example.

I used to have a Tandy VM-2 back in the day connected to a Tandy 1000. While I couldn't wait to get a color monitor, I loved how sharp the text was on it and it used composite in for its signal!

Yeah, monochrome is so cool. I can't explain it, maybe it's a long lost memory from my childhood or something.

I have a Brother monitor with an MDA input, amber monochrome. It looks great, but no RCA in.

oh i must have misread it i thought it was an auction. You got a good deal.

the correct terminology for it is composite input. Should help you search.
Yeah I always confuse composite and component. But yes, that would help the search should I look again.

There is something special about it. For one thing, characters were usually of high quality and easy on the eyes. Resolution/dot pitch was usually good enough for crisp clear text.

I always preferred Amber screens. Staring at green screens all day, then looking at the white walls everything turned purple and pink. It was just hard on the eyes I think.

We should start a thread in the auctions section. I didn't want to steal the monitor from OP, but always looking for an MDA screen with composite for a good deal...

Sure others are as well!

Are you still looking for a green screen? I have a small one. I can dig the specs up tomorrow.

Looks good. Now is the time to buy up these monochromatic CRT's as they are getting scrapped and recycled in the droves.
