I'm looking for an HP 9000/778 Visualize Workstation, either a B160L or B180L+.

I'll be at VCF East in a few weeks checking the consignments...

Thanks!

Just curious, what you plan to do with a B160L or B180L+?

I have a B132L that I haven't used in quite a while. Slightly slower than a B160L or B180L+, and somewhat annoying that it is FW HVD SCSI instead of the UW SCSI of the B132L+ or B180L+.

If you come up short looking anywhere else, you could always make me an offer I couldn't refuse :)

Glen,

Is there a forum in the world that you're not monitoring? You're omnipresent!

As you know, I've got a bunch of these LAs based on very similar systems. I've had a few ideas/thoughts/projects around experimenting with writing drivers, adding LASI SCSI support to qemu, amongst others. It would be nice to have a traditional workstation-type PC, with real hardware (ie not just emulation), that I could play around with.

I appreciate the offer, and maybe if I get desperate I'll let you know --- but I really don't want to go SLOWER than the 150mhz 7300LC's that's in the LAs. I want something that maximizes compatibility as much as I can, but optimized. Maybe a slighter faster clocked 7300LC, or a bit more RAM. I want a machine that uses LASI's integrated SCSI controller -- but don't want something better/faster that lacks that older connectivity.

Thanks as usual!

I was somewhat curious if the HP 16505A software for controlling an HP 16500B/C could be made to run on a B132L instead of the standard 712/60, 80, or 100, but as far as I know the 16505A might have some compatibility issues with HP-UX 10.20 instead of 9.x, and a B132L might not be compatible with HP-UX 9.x

Plus, even it could be made to work, while it might have been worth the effort years ago when picking up an HP 16700 was too expensive to think about, it would just be a curiosity now and not something really worth using.
