(EDIT 6/6/21: I think I've tracked down what I need. I've found a Facit 4042 paper tape punch/reader combo, an HP 11144 ASCII bus interface, an 11272A extended I/O ROM, and what should hopefully be suitable paper rolls. If anyone needs paper rolls, PM me and we can work something out; I had to buy 100 of them! That said, if you have any of the real HP stuff listed below, please do let me know.)

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a nicely-restored HP 9830 machine from the fellow who used to oversee the production line for it (Lee White). After bonding over stories of what it was like working at HP 35 years apart from each other, he hooked me up with a 9830A "calculator", 9866A printer, 9865 tape reader, and some other goodies. However, now I'm looking to enter the wonderful world of paper media.

The two things directly compatible with this machine would be the 9860A card reader (which seems fairly small, but finding cards, whether marked cards or punch cards, could be the next big challenge), or a 9863A paper tape reader (which seems quite large, about the same size as the computer, but probably finding paper tape would be easier, but then I'd need an equally large paper tape puncher). Both of these things also require a special adapter cable. A 9160A should also be compatible as long as it has the 98xx adapter cable. Also an HP 2748 tape reader and a FACIT 4070 punch could be compatible with the 9830 (with appropriate adapters), as one was found in the wild in this configuration, but the seller isn't willing to ship to the US (plus shipping 35 kgs of that stuff in durable boxes would cost a fortune anyway).

Location: Dallas, TX.

Any help would be appreciated!
- Stephen
