I just was given an aptiva (2144-m50)the owner wanted to pull thr drive before hand so i said sure. Well I just got the cover off and they pulled the entire support bracket that had all the drives attacthed and tossed it. So now I can reassemble the machine. I dont care about the cdrom or drives...but I NEED that support bracket and I cant seem to find one anywhere. Anyone have a parts machine/ parts pile with this odd bracket I can buy? Thanks in advance.

While the correct bracket is obviously preferable, is it absolutely necessary? IOW, could you live with another bracket or other support structure in there, so long as it held whatever drives you want to use and didn't prevent the cover going back on?

If so, you might want to take some photos and make some measurements. While the correct part might turn up in a flash, it might not and a kludge could be the way to get you up and running sooner.

Well , this bracket connects front panel to rear, the floppy, hdd. Cdrom mounts to it. And it keeps the expansion riser card from moving. I can get the main sliding cover on, but its just a shell chassis with motherboard, no way to install the internal components with out this bracket. Luckily I have more restore prokects ahead of it, but trying to track down this part for when I get to it
