  • From now on we will require that a prefix is set for any items in the sales area. We have created regions and locations for this. We also require that you select a delivery option before posting your listing. This will hopefully help us streamline the things that get listed for sales here and help local people better advertise their items, especially for local only sales. New sales rules are also coming, so stay tuned.

I am on the lookout for a Macintosh Quadra 900 or 950. I do not require disk drives nor RAM nor CPU if you really want to strip it down. Yellowed/broken/scuffed plastic and chipped paint, dents, rust, etc do not bother me. This will machine will be possible candidate for modification (or restoration). Mainboard, case, PSU are all I require, though I would really appreciate having at least one of the original keys.

I was bidding on a pretty beat up 950 on eBay earlier but got outbid with 7 seconds left - Suppose that's how it goes. Next cheapest one is over 3x more expensive after tax+shipping! Guy says he has >12 of them but is unwilling to part with any of them for <$1000+shipping+tax because they are "Premium" collector items.
I would be more than happy to pony up a few hundred dollars, the unit I was bidding on went to what I thought was well within a reasonable price of $550+tax&shipping. Correct me if I'm possibly wrong on this.

Please, reply or send me a message here if you have one of these machines you would like to sell, especially if you are near the Birmingham area, as I would be available to pick it up. If not, I am okay with paying for shipping (Freight, if necessary, I know these machines are large and heavy).

Thank you for your time.

I have no issue buying from Europe, but most sellers I find are unwilling to ship to me! Seller says three different times in description he will not ship outside EU, and while I did send a message just now offering to pay the high shipping cost and extra for his troubles, I do not have high hopes he will agree.

Thank you very much for the tip though, I will look on European listings in the morning and maybe I will find something.
If you come across anything yourself don't be afraid to let me know.

True, but sometimes they still do. I try the same when I see stuff I want on eBay US. And quite often, they agree to ship to me anyway.

But yeah, he states no shipping outside EU. If all fails, maybe you can find a proxy who does shipping from EU to the US for you.

As a reference for pricing: (auction, no stupid "buy it now" price)

I speak only for myself, but until recently I had very limited space and money to house vintage machines like this. I had a reasonable collection of cheapo thrift store x86 stuff, but the vintage Macintosh stuff I always wanted was always out of reach price wise.
Now that I've got money and a decently sized place, I can afford to start getting more of this stuff without worrying about it being local or small enough.
