Not quite sure where to post this - but I will try here in Hardware.

I have just got hold of a Wyse WY120 terminal for use with my Z80 project which is under development. It is a general purpose terminal from the late 80s. The WY120 was the European version of the WY150.

Trouble is, the poor thing isn't well - I just hope it isn't terminal ;)

Upon switch on, the terminal just emits a continuous bleep - the caps lock, scroll lock and num lock keys are all lit and do not go out (as I would expect them to do).

The service manual isn't too forth coming - all of the power on diagnostic routines assume that the terminal starts up. I have checked the clock frequency on the 8032 and all seems well. The power supply - at least the 5v for the 8032 is good and the CRT itself appears to be working correctly.

Does anybody out there have any experience of terminals? Is there anything else I should be looking at?

The constant beep usually means the battery backed configuration info (maintained by a coin battery) has a bad checksum. Similar to CMOS setup on a PC. The terminal is probably displaying a 'K' in the bottom right of the screen which will confirm that this is what's wrong.

To cure it simply press 'shift' and 'setup' to enter setup then exit, the settings will be rewritten.
