Hi all,
I have a Xerox 820-II, but just the main part, no drives.
I need to have a look inside to check if the disk controller's actually there, (at least there's a connector at the rear of the monitor), but in the meantime I'd like to research what it takes to connect drives to the Xerox.

I haven't got 8" drives, but the 820-II seems to have the option to connect 5.25" ones as well.

What 5.25" drives would I need to connect? QD(80 tracks DD) or HD (80 tracks HD)? What's the pinout of the floppy connector?

Thanks
Robert

PDF page 48 should do it for you.

Thanks Chuck, that has the connections I'm looking for ... if I could read them ... I'm not familiar with signals getting Latin characters as names ... are these top/bottom rows in an edge connector or something like odd/even pins?

Robert

Top row is usually numbered, bottom row lettered. Some letters may be left out. Looking at two from my hellbox, an 18/36 connector has the top row as 1-18 and the bottom row A-V. A 22/44 connector has the top row as 1-22, the bottom row as A-Z. The convention is to omit G,I,O and Q.
