I'm building an NT system with a Voodoo 2 set for GLide acceleration however I'm on the fence on which card out of my stash to use.
Immediately digging through my stash I realize my Mach64 has gone missing and I ahve piles of cheap 2/4mb S3 junk but out of the best for the PCI bus I have is:
Option 1: - Matrox Mystique 220P 2mb (VGA and the Rainbow Runner daughtercard)
Option 2: - ATI 3D Rage LT PRO 8mb (VGA, TV out and DFP)
Option 3: - Intergraph Intense 3D Pro 16mb (texture memory, VGA, stereoscopic)
The system it goes into runs two PPro 166's with 128mb of ram.
Because I'm running NT I don't have access to DirectX so all I'm looking for is the best 2D/OpenGL performance I can get with 3D for the most port done by the 3DFX hardware. I threw the Intergraph in there as it is an affordable dream board.
From what I researched so far:
-The Matrox has awesome 2D, weak 3D and no OpenGL support
-The 3D RAGE has good 3D, good openGL but questionable 2D
-S3 is a joke
-The Intergraph has incredible OpenGL performance, unknown 2D performance (outside OpenGL it uses a Cirrus Logic chipset with 512kb of memory) and possibly high power requirements.
