Hi Erik & folks! :D

Would it be possible to have Spoilers incorporated into this forum? Spoilers are wonderful things, they allow to you use them in your posts and just recently discovered they can be in Signatures. They literally are the answer for large Signatures because the idea is the Spoiler is a buttom which one can click to reveal the contents.

They simply work like this:

Normally you wouldn't be able to read this unless you click on the button titled Spoiler!

I guess the only setback is if vBulletin doesn't incorporate it and to have them would be an whole upgrade of the vBulletin board.

Here is an example of a spoiler.

Sorry I don't quite follow! :( You mean the link in your signature in referring to that as a Spoiler? I suppose in one way you could have a Link titled Spoiler, though it's always going to lead somewhere.

What I was referring to is a means to hide text or images from within your own posts - so not going to other sites as such, though on the other forum I have my own Signature (which is the same as the one here), inclosed in a spoiler which takes people to my website if they click on the signature. Some people use them if they have sad news or something scarey and have a note outside the spoiler to prepare you with or enter at your own risk.
It would certainally eliminate the issue of large signatures cause people can hide the number of machines behind the spoiler with a bit of text outside the spoiler saying click to see my machines or something to that effect. It simply means in that case of having signatures sticking out all the time that a spoiler would only show the space once someone clicks on the button and be a suitable means to having small signatures when their not being used! :D

Images that are contained in spoilers are downloaded anyway. So while the annoying screen dominating won't be seen, time and bandwidth is still wasted. I don't like big text signatures for the same reason. Extra waste that gets downloaded with each post. Profiles or links to personal blogs in the profile are a great place to keep big curiousities.

For more traditional uses, this is one board that does not need spoilers. What secrets should we try to keep about 30 year old hardware and software?

Fine, I cannot talk about it reasonibly to members on the board who whinge about 1 bloody byte - I'll take it up with the person direct whose responcible for this forum, if you're lucky they may decide to shut the bloomin' site down! :???:

I guess I'm not getting it either. :) To me it doesn't matter if a link is to another file, directory, or site. It's all the same on the net as far as I'm concerned. For example I could put the word SPOILER in the text or as a sig and then use the link for pictures or text or whatever I want. Did you mean a drop down box or something?

Yes it's a drop down box which appears when you click on a button titled
. The button remains, so if you decide you want to close it, it's possible to that as well. When revealed it appears simular to a quote box, which is perhaps on the same alignment as a Quote box.
