Any interest in XTIDE cards?

Still, without an IDE interface it won't be able to do anything worthwhile.
XTIDE Universal BIOS can be used without an IDE interface. You only need a serial port! :tongue1: Though I suppose "worthwhile" is a relative term. ;)

Many just don't work in the XT and a few stop the XT from booting. The older the better chance of them working it seem's.

What 16-bit IDE card did you get to work in an 8-bit slot? I've got several 16-bit IDE adapters but I haven't found one, yet, that will work in my XT -- but I'd sure like to.
A list of controllers verified as working (or not) could be useful for other people. :)

i want to help improve the bios!!
Feel free to send any improvements to me. This goes for anyone who wants to help, not just Sparky!

Edit: On a side note - there were also (very few) 8-bit IDE drives.

Something like this:

I don't know anything about these, but i wonder if they are supported in XTIDE or if XTIDE only supports the (normal) 16-bit IDE drives. I mean 8-bit IDE drives are really an oddity.

XTA drives/interfaces like these are not supported, only ATA. Sorry.

Which kind of EPROM chips will you use? I think old NIC sockets need EPROMS (UV erasable), but today you can buy EEPROMS. Some of the pins are not the same on EPROMS and EEPROMS, and I suppose programmers just work with EEPROMS. Even if programmers support old EPROMS, you should erase them first, using UV light.

here i did this and i have some bugs to report unless you got an updated version?

Please report any bugs you find in this thread.

The current issues I have is when I try to put 2 primary partitions on the ssd.
The BIOS freaks out and dose not work well with the more than 1 partition stuff.

The BIOS deals only with sectors and has no knowledge about higher level concepts like partitions or file systems. This particular problem you're having is because DOS does not support multiple primary partitions.

What is the status of this? Due to the limited availibility of isa-slots on a A2000 I am interested in a combination of two or more features on on 16Bit card.
Currently I am using a Formose SC1630 (primery ide) with a CF card and ontrack 9.54 without any aditional bios. It's works but I think about alternatives.

An XT-IDE or AT-IDE with VGA1MB would bei nice, or a Network-Card with IDE would be also very nice.

How about a PC/104 stack? It's just ISA with a different connector. I've used that trick in a few industrial systems where there was only one available ISA slot.
