Every time I restart this computer, the bios shows the CMOS Checksum invalid error and loads the bios defaults. It doesn't matter if I save settings, exit, and reboot, it still gives the same error. The RTC actually is keeping the time though. I've cleared the CMOS following the instructions in the manual and tried loading the defaults but it just continues to give a cmos checksum error. Is there something I've missed?

You may have a clear CMOS jumper set on the motherboard. Many motherboards used a three pin configuration, for example 1-2 for normal operation and 2-3 for CMOS clear. Some just used two pins, ON for clear and OFF for normal operation. Check to make sure one of the pins isn't bent over touching another. Saw that one time so that could be the issue as well.

Also, even though the RTC is keeping time the battery may be just dead enough to cause issues. If you haven't done so replace the CMOS battery and see if that helps.
