For those of us with Cirrus cards, has anyone attempted a VGA panel replacement?

This is something that should be explored, as the B/W LCD panels on these systems are slowly depolarizing.

I've done some panel swaps on other systems. But not yet on gridcases. I might try swapping one of my lcd 1520 or 1530 with one of the EL panels I have.
But what do you mean with Cirrus cards? Didn't all 1530's have the same chipset? And were any of them VGA? I thought they only came in DCGA (640x400).

They are quite rare, but they did indeed make some 1530s (and 1520s too I think) with VGA LCDs. I think it was an option offered towards the end of production for those models, so they aren't nearly as common as the CGA variants.

Hmm, very interesting, didn't know that. I haven't come across any with VGA yet. I thought VGA was only available as a 1500 series expansion module that slotted in the back.

Just when I thought I had finished my Gridcase collection.

Yeah, I wasn't aware either until recently. They are quite rare as I said.

There is a pic of a VGA 1530 in this thread.

After some searching I was indeed able to find pictures of of both 1520 and 1530 models with VGA displays. Interestingly none of the 1535exp. Even tho its basically a 1530, (same motherboard, bios etc.). Although there aren't many pics of 1535exp machines out there.

It looks to all be the same LCD as in the 1550sx or was there also a plasma or EL VGA option?
