I recently obtained a complete NeXTstation in fully working order and want to back up the 2GB hard disk. I've never handled NeXTStep before and this is going to be a new realm of experience as I'm not too familiar with UNIX-like operating systems. Transferring the data off on a 2.8MB floppy disk is obviously out of the question but I'm not sure how else to do this. Has anyone been in this situation before?

If you have or can easily acquire a SCSI controller for a newer PC, the easiest approach is just going to be to hook up the hard disk to that and image it whole.

Depends on what your goal is. The BuildDisk.app app can create a new install from your current one, onto another disk. Then you can copy over what you like.

I am wanting to back up the entire drive including the operating system in case of a drive failure or to keep it as a backup for any other catastrophic event. I never considered what commodorejohn posted and I'll consider trying that out within the coming week.
