And on a different note, these last days I've been testing the disk drives (it was an 8250 unit, not an 8050 as I said in my first post), and although sometimes it doesn't seem to realise there are disks inserted (usually inserting them again, switching off and on the drives unit or a combination of both, solves it) and it took a few tries before it started to format diskettes (I was initially getting format speed and read errors) they seem to be working acceptably well.

To be fair, they'd probably benefit from a good cleaning (apart from vacuuming the inside of the unit as I did) and re-greasing, but I'm not sure if they're too difficult to disassemble and reassemble again?
